Call for Abstracts
the submission extended to September 20, 2026
The Italian Association of Energy Economists – AIEE, affiliate of the International Association for Energy Economics – IAEE, is organizing the 10th AIEE Energy Symposium on Energy Security on November 25–26, 2026, with the scientific contribution and cooperation of the University of Turin.
The Symposium has become an important annual forum for discussing the evolving concept of energy security in a rapidly changing geopolitical context.
The 2026 edition will address key challenges shaping the global energy landscape, including the Middle East energy crisis, the emergence of new geopolitical and industrial actors, the impact of artificial intelligence and data centres on energy demand, and the transformation driven by the energy transition.
A central focus will be the link between climate change, energy policy and national security, with attention to mitigation and adaptation strategies and their implications for a decarbonised energy system. Through plenary sessions, keynote presentations and concurrent sessions, the event will offer an international platform for networking and knowledge exchange in the modern setting of the University of Turin, in the context of a historic city, once Italy’s first capital, known for elegant baroque architecture, grand piazzas, renowned museums, rich cuisine and the Alps backdrop.

Concurrent sessions will be organized from accepted abstracts. Authors may be encouraged by the Programme Committee to organize specific sessions. Submitted abstracts should be of one or two pages in length, comprising (1) overview, (2) methods, (3) results and (4) conclusions.
The result of the submissions sent within July 31st, 2026 will be notified by August 20, 2026.
While multiple submissions by individual or groups of authors are welcome, the abstract selection process will seek to ensure as broad participation as possible: each speaker is to deliver only one presentation in the conference. If multiple submissions are accepted, then a different co-author will be required to pay the speaker registration fee and present the paper.
The range of topics proposed for submission is not limited, the authors may be encouraged by the Programme Committee to organize also specific sessions on topics different from the ones indicated below, for which you are cordially invited to send us your proposals. To organize a special session, the number of the speakers should be at least 4 and no more than 5. The abstracts proposed for the special session should be submitted, following the general submission rules.
Authors whose abstracts are accepted and will be presented inn the conference sessions will have time until October 30, 2026 to submit their full papers if they want to publish them in the conference proceedings. It is not obligatory to send the full paper, unless the authors are interested to publish it.

Students’ participation
Students are especially encouraged to partecipate and may attend the conference at the reduced student registration rate.
Two awards of €500 each will be granted to the best papers presented by early-career researchers, including PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.
Priority will be given to papers in which the young researcher is the first author.
Detailed information regarding student participation and the best papers’ awards will be soon available in the “student section” on the conference website.
Conference Proceedings and Journal Special Issue
AIEE will publish the Conference Proceedings online on the conference website, in a single open-access volume. The proceedings will include the accepted abstracts; the submission of a full paper is not mandatory.

The AIEE does not copyright conference abstracts, papers and presentations.
The author retains the copyright of their presented paper and gives permission to AIEE to post their abstract and presentation in the online proceedings

Selected papers presented at the conference may also be considered for a special issue of the Italian Economic Journal, published by Springer Nature and edited by Valeria Di Cosmo and Fulvio Fontini.
A dedicated call for papers will be opened after the conference, and all submissions will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process.
